The Gona beachhead area is significant as this was where the Japanese landed and commenced their fight across the Kokoda Trail. Arrival Day
Day 1  Book into Gateway Hotel, gear checks and trek briefing. Overnight at Gateway Hotel

Day 2 Depart Gateway Hotel, drive to Bomana War Cemetery, Trek starts from Ower’s Corner Overnight at Ua Ule Creek Camp, Jungle Camp

Day 3 Trek from Ua Ule Creek Camp to Ofi Creek Overnight at Ofi Creek, Jungle Camp

Day 4 Trek from Ofi Creek to Naoro Village Overnight at Naoro Village Guest house

Day 5 Trek from Naoro Village to Menari Village Overnight at Menari Village Guest house

Day 6 Trek from Menari Village to Efogi Village Overnight at Efogi Guest house

Day 7 Trek from Efogi Village to Mt Bellamy Camp Overnight at Mt Bellamy Camp Jungle Camp

Day 8 Trek from Mt Bellamy Camp to Iora Creek Overnight at Iora Creek, Jungle Camp

Day 9 Trek from Iora Creek to Isurava Overnight at Isurava Guest house

Day 10 Trek from Isurava Memorial to Kokoda, Kokoda village tour, before departing by bus to Popendetta
Overnight at Buna Beach House.

Day 11 Day Tour to Gona beach where the Japanese landed before commencing their trek across the Kokoda Trail. Gona beach is also the beachhead area where the Japanese dug and fought ferociously before being finally destroyed by the Australians. Travel onto Buna. Overnight at Buna Guest House.

Day 12 Day Tour of Buna, Oro Bay and area. Explore the historic area and visit the many war wrecks left after the furious battles. Overnight at Buna Beach House.

Day 13 Visit to shopping area in Popendetta before departing for airport for return flight to Port Moresby.
Overnight Gateway Hotel.

Day 14 Depart Port Moresby for Homeports.

* The AU $3,095 price per person is based on the services of a local Tour Guide.  Treks are led by the very best local professional guides from the region we walk in. Add for the services of a Personal Porter AU $600.  Personal Porters to carry your rucksack or backpack and are recommended for many trekkers.  Do you need a Personal Porter?
